Job Description
Carpenters are the backbone of Canada’s construction industry, involved in various projects ranging from residential homes and commercial buildings to infrastructure development. As a carpenter, you will be responsible for crafting, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures made of wood, plywood, and other materials.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Study and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to understand project requirements and dimensions
- Cut and shape wood, metal, and other materials using hand tools, power saws, and woodworking machines
- Install structures, fixtures, and cabinetry
- Ensuring precise measurements and alignment for a seamless fit
- Repair or replace damaged components, renovate existing structures, and provide solutions for structural issues
- Apply finishes, such as paint, varnish, or stain, to protect wood surfaces and enhance their appearance
- Adhere to safety regulations and use tools and equipment responsibly
Qualifications and Skills Required
- No formal education is required
- Valid carpentry license and certification
- Able to pay strong attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Able to multi-task effectively
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
