Job Description
Truck drivers are the backbone of the Canadian economy, transporting goods ranging from raw materials to consumer products. As a truck driver, you will be responsible for the safe and timely delivery of cargo, covering various distances and routes.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate commercial trucks through adherence to traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies
- Load and unload cargo, secure loads, and verify inventory to guarantee safe transportation of goods
- Plan efficient routes, considering factors such as traffic, weather, and delivery schedules to optimize time and fuel usage
- Perform routine checks, maintenance, and repairs on trucks to ensure they are in optimal working condition
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including invoices, receipts, and delivery confirmations
- Provide excellent customer service, addressing inquiries and ensuring customer satisfaction at delivery points
Qualifications and Skills Required
- Valid Class 1 or Class A commercial driver’s license (CDL)
- Good and clean driving record
- Good knowledge of local roads and traffic laws
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Able to multi-task effectively
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Good physical strength and stamina
- Exceptional problem-solving skills
- Able to work effectively as part of a team
- Previous experience in a similar role is an added advantage
